Care: | These fish are hardy, just like most other Corydoras catfish. Though they can tolerate poor water conditions, they do appreciate clean water with some current. Breeding: | Has rarely been bred in the aquarium, and reports are unavailable. It is believed that they breed in the same manner as most other Corydoras species- water changes with cooler water induces spawning; the eggs are usually laid on the glass or on plants, and hatch a few days later. The eggs of this species are quite small and could easily be missed. If spawning behavior is suspected, watch for the fish forming the T position, and take notes so that other aquarists can be aided in breeding this fish. |

Comments: | Corydoras guapore is one of the only cory species that is actually attractive. It is also quite distinctive-looking, as its oddly-shaped head and "blushing" cheeks set it apart from other species. Its looks, as well as its small size and peaceful nature account for the popularity of this catfish. The demand for this fish added to its relative rarity in the aquarium trade means that the guapore cory fetches fairly high prices for a Corydoras.
