Distribution:

Care:
Very easy to keep, and not demanding, if proper conditions are upheld. They are a very peaceful schooling fish whose bright colors develop after proper tank condition have been met and stress is reduced. D. choprai appreciate plants of all kinds, as well as other decor in the tank. As they are a highly active and fast swimmer type fish, they do require swimming space. So it is recommended the use of a tank with a footprint of a 29 gal or larger is used. A darker background will bring out their rich colors better.

Gender:
females have fuller bodies when they are holding eggs otherwise very difficult to distinguish.

Breeding:
Egg scatterers. They breed in the same fashion as all other danios. It is best to have a heavy foilage bottom of the tank, such as java moss or something similar. The parents will eat their own eggs if found, as well they will eat the fry. For best results, it is best to remove the parents after they have spawned. Fry are very small and require the smallest of starter foods, such as infusoria and the like. You should see small "slivers" of fry in 2-4 weeks after spawning. Growth rate is moderate, reaching mature size in about 6 months.

The D. choprai are very colorful fish which are very non demanding and are very appropriate for beginner to keep even if they are usually very rare and expensive.
